Wisconsin Vein Center & MediSpa offers light to medium depth peels that will regenerate the skin for a healthy glow. We also offer our Advanced Pigment Peel to improve uneven skin tone, deep pigment issues, or melasma.

Chemical peels…the term may sound scary, but in actuality, chemical peels have been in use for a number of years and are a safe and highly popular way to improve the texture and look of your skin.

Chemical peels use a chemical solution, usually an acid, to ‘peel’ away the top layers of the epidermis in order to improve conditions such as acne, irregular pigmentation or wrinkles. They can range from mild to aggressive and, depending on the nature and depth of the peel, a significant number of layers can be exfoliated. This allows new, fresh skin to be exposed, creating a vibrant appearance, promoting a rosy glow or even drying up an acne flare up.

A chemical peel is a very quick and easy treatment and can be performed during a lunch hour. Depending on the strength of the peel, some may just leave your skin freshened and radiant. Others are deeper and are associated with a few days of peeling and redness. Your clinician will work with you to determine which chemical peel is best suited for your skin and schedule.

Wisconsin Vein Center & MediSpa features these and many other customized chemical peels:

  • Acne Peel
  • Glycolic Peel
  • Green Tea Glycolic Peel

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of a chemical peel for acne?

Chemical peels use a chemical solution to ‘peel’ away the top layers of the epidermis in order to improve many skin concerns, including acne.  This allows new, fresh skin to be uncovered, drying up an acne and helping skin feel refreshed and radiant.

How often should I get a chemical peel?

Depending on your skin concerns and type of acne and acne scarring, regular chemical peels may be recommended for optimal skin health and for acne-free skin.  How often you get a chemical peel is determined by both your skin type and the depth of chemical peel done.  The medical aestheticians at Wisconsin Vein Center & MediSpa can help you decide what peels are best for your skin.

How can I clear up acne fast?

There are different ways to treat acne and try to get rid of it quickly. You can use retinol cream or products containing Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic Acid. The rate at which your acne dissipates is highly dependent on individual factors. By meeting with our team at Wisconsin Vein Center & MediSpa, we can examine your skin and find the best treatment for you.

What foods cause acne?

Eating a healthy, nutritious diet is great for your skin health as well as overall health. Foods to avoid if you are acne-prone are sugar, dairy, and gluten. There are certain components in these products that can heighten inflammation in the skin.

Is a chemical peel good for skin?

A chemical peel is an effective way to smooth the skin texture and resurface the skin to reduce damaged skin cells. If you are a good candidate for the procedure, chemical peels are completely safe.

What is a chemical peel supposed to do?

A chemical peel is intended to resurface the skin to reduce roughness, wrinkles and fine lines, and create firmer and more elastic skin. This is achieved by removing the surface layer of rough, damaged skin cells.

How long does a chemical peel burn take to heal?

Medium or deep chemical peels cause a burn on the skin, which typically takes about 5-7 days to heal. There is little discomfort and no pain throughout this healing process.

How long does chemical peel last?

After a chemical peel, it typically takes 3-7 days for peeling to be complete. Results last an average of 1-2 months or more.

How long does it take for a chemical peel to heal?

The healing period after a chemical peel depends on the type of peel you have had. Light chemical peels may take as little as two days or less to heal, while deep chemical peels may take seven days or more.

What can you not do after a chemical peel?

After your chemical peel, you should avoid excess sun exposure, strenuous exercise, or other activities that could induce heavy sweating for at least 2-3 days. This depends on the type of peel.

Can you see results after one chemical peel?

Most patients do see results after one chemical peel. Some patients with more severe concerns may require multiple chemical peels to achieve their ideal results.

Can I shower after a Chemical Peel?

Depending on the depth of the Chemical Peel sweating excessively after treatment can irritate the skin or cause blistering due to the sweat being unable to escape through the top layer of dead skin. Try to avoid sweating until after you have stopped peeling to avoid lifting the skin prematurely, as this can cause scarring. We advise avoiding showering for 12 hours and let the products settle, trying not to overheat the skin.
